This year James Baldwin would’ve turned 100 years, a whole century later, he’s still a continous source of inspiration for many. In tribute to Baldwins work Ndegeocello unveils her latest musical collaboration  No More Water: The Gopel of James Baldwin. Connected through their shared admiration for the author’s words and revolutionary spirit,  renowned multidisciplinary artist Samora Pinderhughes joins the musician & producer legend Meshell Ndegeocello to grace the stage for a special live performance. Both messengers in their own respective, we are thrilled to present this double show at J.A.W .

Meshell Ndegeocello is a one of a kind bassist, singer-songwriter and producer, who has witnessed the highs and lows of a musical career spanning over 30 years. Meshell’s music summons a  transformative and collaborative spirit that ignites a genre-bending and groundlaying sound, at once a musical experience, a church service, a celebration, a testimonial, and a call to action. Seeing herself as a witness of her time, Ndegeocello has brought forth a body of work honoring Baldwin's legacy. No More Water: A Tribute to James Baldwin, Co-produced by Meshell and guitarist Chris Bruce, featuring frequent collaborators, as well as powerful spoken word performances, is her most recent release, an incredibly intimate and well produced record, transmitting powerful messages.

Samora Pinderhughes
is a composer, pianist, vocalist abd interdisciplinary artist, whose work delves into all the things our society tries to hide - about its history, about its structures, and about the individual and daily things we all experience but don’t know how to talk about. His art is an invitation to feel things deeply, and to think deeply about how we all live. He is known for his honest lyrics, his harmonic language, his vulnerable visuals, his sociopolitical commentary, and his commitment to making art that is of use to everyday life. Samora's mission for truth telling continues with a new album on the way. Venus Smiles Not in the House of Tears is his forthcoming work and delves into the complexities of relationships and feelings.

Jake Sherman & Abe Rounds
are both part of Meshell´s band, taking the lead on drums & organ. When they are not touring on their own or with the likes of Joni Mitchell, Blake Mills, Bilal or Pino Palladino, they work on their duo project ‚Jake and Abe‘ to release their debut album this fall.

The Musikbrauerei is a 120 year old Schneider Brewery and one of the last authentic locations in Berlin’s Prenzlauer Berg, with its two main rooms, the Säulenhalle & the Recording Hall.

The capacity for both concerts with Meshell in the Recording Hall will be limited to 250 guests per night.
