Refuge Worldwide Residency

In the fall of 2021, Berlin-based radio station Refuge Worldwide invited us to take over their waves every two months for a journey into what JAW Family— artists, close friends & crew— stand for and get inspired by sonically. Started as a fundraising platform, Refuge Worldwide is working in solidarity with grassroots and non-profit organizations across Berlin. Re-listen to our past shows below and tune in on refugeworldwide.com.

Berlin debut at Rhinoçéros, November 2022 - Film by Tania Feghali

The second chapter of our cooperation with the Milan-based filmmaker Tania Feghali who captured this intimate show on a cold night in November 2022. This Berlin debut took place at Rhinoçéros, a place that feels like home to us, with close family friends and musical brothers Samora, Elliott and Joshua.

JAW Family x Wax Poetics

Abdullah Ibrahim and the Zen of African Piano

Teamed up with our favourite magazine out there aka Wax Poetics, we have put together an in-depth article on Abdullah Ibrahim written by Andy Thomas. A fascinating story about the south African pianist and his legacy, his spiritual connection to the music, Japanese arts and cosmology but also his deep connection to the piano and the art of the solo, something that's always been part of his life since he started playing and recording music.

Together with the article, we are glad to present an exclusive and beautiful mix from south African and Cape-town based Dj, curator and art journalist Atiyyah Khan fully dedicated to Abdullah's music.

Check out the article and listen to Atiyyah´s mix on waxpoetics.com
